Periodontics

Periodontics is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of all aspects of the periodontium- the supporting structure of teeth. This includes conservative treatments such as scaling and root planning and delivery of time released pharmaceuticals (antibiotics). More complex treatment include, periodontal surgery (gum and bone surgery), dental implant placement to replace lost teeth, and cosmetic periodontal plastic surgery.
