Extractions

Extractions are needed if a tooth is too badly damaged from trauma or decay to be repaired. Infection or severe periodontal disease can also require teeth to need to be extracted.

Patients undergoing orthodontia (braces or invisalign ) will sometimes require extraction to create space in a crowded mouth.

If we are expecting to replace the tooth being extracted with an implant, sometimes bone grafting is done to preserve sufficient bone. Dr. Pearlstein, our periodontal surgeon, will often place a bone graft in the socket at the time of the extraction.
